Diamonds may be the oldest materials jewelers work with, and gold may have an eternal allure, but for something that really connects with nature, few things can approach the beauty and rarity of fossilized material. As designer Patrick Murphy puts it in regard to his new line of jewelry highlighting fossilized dinosaur bone, coral, fern and wood: "These materials lend a more direct connection to nature, and they display beautiful natural patterns." It's pretty clear from this sample that Patrick has found some outstanding material to work with, patterns that few if any goldsmiths could replicate.
